"Was Hänschen nicht lernt, lernt Hans nimmermehr“ is a famous German proverb and indeed we have to start with the children if we want to keep the knowledge of traditional European plants alive or would like to revive it again. However, this is only possible if the teachers are adequately qualified. The Dr. Pandalis Foundation pleads in the long term for the subject “Traditional European Plants” to be established in secondary schools and to qualify teachers for it (biology, social and community studies).
