Different disciplines work closely together in the Dr. Pandalis Foundation. These include biologists, medical doctors and historians. They work to get to the bottom of the plant knowledge of our ancestors and put it to the test of modern natural science. The intention is to select the very best from the "treasure trove of the past" and to make it accessible to the general public. "Because it is not until the people on the street allow themselves to become fascinated by the almost forgotten world of our indigenous wild plants, that they will be able to turn their backs on chemistry and return to nature“, Dr. Georgios Pandalis, founder and chairman of the Foundation, comments, summing up the situation.
The Foundation is proud of the fact that one of the leading geo-botanists in Europe, Prof. Dr. Richard Pott (Geobotanisches Institut, Universität Hannover), now supports and is actively involved with the Foundation. He advises the Dr. Pandalis Foundation in a voluntary capacity concerning all specialised geo-botanical questions. An equally strong partner is the famous medical historian Prof. Dr. Dr. Dr. Gundolf Keil (Institut für Medizingeschichte, Universität Würzburg), who also supports the Foundation in a voluntary capacity with his universal knowledge concerning the traditional and/or historical use of our European plants. We are still looking for an expert from the field of nutrition who is convinced about the power of our original indigenous plants – not simply on account of their measurable chemical properties. At university level there is not any institution as yet which concerns itself with the history of foodstuffs. Perhaps the Foundation will succeed in filling this gaping hole and establishing a new faculty. One fact is certain: We urgently need "modern witches“, who give nature the individual, respectful and honourable treatment it deserves! |
